CEO & Founder Jennifer Phelps, M.S., BCBA

Her Story

Jennifer Phelps founded Engage Behavioral Health in 2008, and as CEO and founder, she specializes in the assessment and treatment of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities.

Phelps, who obtained her Master’s in Applied Behavioral Analysis from Florida State University, found her passion for helping those with developmental disabilities began at a young age. In middle school at age 12, she began volunteering to work with those with disabilities around Florida. When she was a teenager, Phelps read Catherine Maurice’s “Let Me Hear Your Voice” and it was this and a family member that motivated her to dedicate herself to helping those with autism and other developmental disabilities.

“Ever since I was 12 and my nephew was diagnosed with a developmental disability, I knew that I wanted to run a clinic for autistic children — I even designed the floor plans for it!” Phelps says. “Today, Engage Behavioral Health provides services to families in homes and within our ABA clinics at our many locations. The biggest achievement is not the growth of my business, but the countless families we have had the opportunity to help.”

Phelps assisted in starting the ABA Therapy Program at All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, sits on the Early Childhood Council of Hillsborough County and was named a Tampa Bay Business Journal 2017 Businesswoman of the Year finalist.
